Family violence is a serious issue that impacts many in New Zealand, and takes many forms, each with often long-lasting impacts for those involved.
Family violence can include:
Physical Abuse: Acts of harm that result in physical injury or damage to property.
Emotional and Psychological Abuse: Behaviours that undermine a person’s self-worth, instil fear, or manipulate and control. For example, stalking and harassment.
Financial Abuse: Limiting access to financial resources, controlling finances, or stealing, undermining a person’s independence.
Sexual Abuse: Coercing or forcing someone into sexual acts without consent.
